Reub's journey

If I were a seashell

If I were a seashell I think I would aspire to be

held in a child's left hand

while in her right hand

she will hold a paintbrush.

I will live forever, and it will all be perfect.

As you can see it has been a good week in my middle school art classes. Is there anything better than watching 34 thirteen-year-old kids holding seashells as though they were the last most precious things on earth, and painting them with that kind of reverence? I would not trade my life as a public school art teacher for anything else.
