Tequila

This morning I spoke with my mother, who lives six big states away from me, in Wisconsin,  and who will turn 91 next week.  She sounded real good. My brother was there to take her  shopping.  I spoke with him for a few minutes too, and he expressed some trepidation...last week when he took her, she bought a 32 ounce box of Twinkies, a large container of margarita mix,  and a bottle of tequila. What? She lives by herself.  She  rarely drinks alcohol. Tequila! I could hardly believe it; I didn't even think she knew what a margarita was. Wow. The way her mind works right now...just...wow.

This naturally makes my musician husband sing: uh UH uh uh uh uh UH ah...ah UH uh uh UH uh uh...TWINKIES! It's a new song, to the tune of Tequila. It makes me laugh, which is good.

  1. Such a cute story. So, did you ask your brother if your mother drank any of the tequila and ate any of the twinkies? Maybe she was planning on having a guest over. Or maybe, just maybe she wanted to let loose one more time?

  3. Hey JarieLyn! I don't think she's opened the tequila yet & I honestly don't know what she was thinking. She's been grumpy about the upcoming birthday, but maybe she thought it would liven things up? Ive never seen her let loose!

I bet she's had a few twinkies though. Yeah.

twg:I know. What's next? Harvey Wallbangers? Alabama Slammers?

  4. perhaps the twinkies and the tequila help keep her preserved...or pickled as the case may be.

  6. Grandma Marge???!!!! This is classic. What is she doing out there all alone? Oh, why, eating twinkies and drinking margaritas of course. Duh.

  7. Is it possible that twinkies and margaritas are good together? I suppose there are worse things.

  8. Just know that, whenever you may get to Wisconsin again, those Twinkies (or what's left of them) will still be there. Their shelf-life is amazing!!

  12. I think at age 91, people should eat and drink any damn thing they want. Personally these two things wouldn't be my choice, but more power to her!
