Through glass

Fish, at the Oregon Coast Aquarium.

From Inside Interzone, a coffee shop near the Oregon State campus, sitting with my son as he works.

A window in my kitchen, which I like best because of the built in book shelf next to it, stacked with cookbooks.

Friday My Town Shoot-Out is a pretty cool little group. Go there and check out other parts of the world.

  3. Love the fish!! That is a really lot of cookbooks! I used to have a ton of them but three moves in just over a year makes one go down to the bare essentials.

    1. Jarie Lyn: Thanks!

twg: Too bad you live so far away. I can't swamp you with home cooked stuff.

Kara: I have a weakness for cookbooks. I probably have some of the ones you discarded, bought used somewhere!

  4. Nice job on the fish. I was trying to shoot through muddy river water yesterday to get some like this. I gave up. Enjoyed the reflections as well. Hope you had a nice visit with your son.

    1. Gail: "Through muddy water"...maybe that should be my next challenge.:)

Stephen: Thanks. It's a fun, shabby, low-key place.

Chef E: What? You didn't? I know you like aquariums.

  8. My sisters are in beautiful Oregon, too! I love that shot in the aquarium, Kerry. 'Through Glass' is a very nice topic for a post.

  9. Ruth: Thank you!

Suze: Really? You have multiple sisters in Oregon? In Portland maybe?

"Through Glass" is indeed a good topic. Would work for a poem too.

  11. You can use the cookbooks again next week! I really like that shot, seeing the outside but feeling the comfort of books on the inside. Don't ask me why books spell comfort, they just do! Great selection.

  12. You have such a nice view from your window, a good place to sit and read near that area.

  13. I especially like the cafe shot ~ bringing the outside in!

  14. Am so glad to be visiting you on Easter morning. I have maybe 15 cook books now packed away for the rest of the year, but doesnt really matter because I buy them then never use them - This weeks shoot out feels like coming home. Have a great day.

  15. Friko: Thanks. It's easier than it sounds to photograph aquariums. The light is quite good for it.

Pauline: Books are very comforting to me, and our house is strewn with them. E-readers just aren't the same!

Jama: Yes, you can sit at a table nearby & look at cookbooks forever.

Cheryl: Or taking the inside out. The painted coffee cup in the foliage is strange:)

Ginger! So good to see you. Welcome back to the US. A shoot-out on regional foods would be fun, hey?

  16. Love the fish and the shot through the window. Some days that is all I see of the outside world is through my kitchen window. Been such nasty weather here.
