Lots of times you have to substitute stuff. Otherwise nothing would get done.
Recipe:
2 game hens (substituted 1 chicken)
1 onion (substituted 2 garlic cloves)
Lime (substituted lemon)
Smoked paprika (substituted one crushed candy cigarette & a dash of Tabasco)
1/2 cup honey (substituted 1/4 cup honey plus a small drawing of a bee)
LOL I bet it still turned out bee-utifully.
ReplyDeleteIt did! Thank you.
DeleteSubstitute me for him
ReplyDeleteSubstitute my coke for gin
Substitute you for my mum
At least I'll get my washing done
The Who!
DeleteI love you too, Dan! :-D
Intrigued regarding the drawing of the bee!
ReplyDeleteA little known fact: drawing is a great substitute for just about everything.
Deleteseriously!? a candy cigarette?
ReplyDeleteUmm. Poetic license? It's no fun being truthful all of the time. Anyway, it's the internet & nobody really believes it, right?
DeleteHaha. Naturally, a candy cigarette was my first thought for a smoky flavor. lol You are a riot. :)
ReplyDeleteThere is a logic to it. Thanks for seeing that! Especially if I added chipotle tabasco to boost the smokiness of the cigarette.:)
DeleteOK, whatever it was you were trying to cook? you cooked something completely different. and really? you have candy cigarettes just sitting around? I didn't think they made those anymore.
ReplyDeleteMost actual recipes are over-rated. As evidence for that are the thousands of comments left by cooks who tinker with online recipes. And then there is Douglas Adams:
Delete"I seldom end up where I want to go, but I almost always end up where I need to be." (To bee!! hahaha I just saw that!)
Candy cigarettes are still made, but they're lame:

A small drawing of a bee? Love it!
ReplyDeleteWell, it was a very sweet drawing. :)
DeleteVery creative substitutions! :)
ReplyDelete:-)
DeleteWhere is the all important deep fried food group?
ReplyDeleteJohn's on a damn diet. So I had to substitute 4 cups of water.
DeleteHilary gave this a Post of the Week! Thank you Hilary!!
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteYay for POTW!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised, but happy.
DeleteI never thought to use those candy cigarettes like that. Thank you! (and congrats on the POTW!)
ReplyDeleteI must admit that I haven't had a candy cigarette in years. I've completely given them up, long ago, in my dark past. This post is mostly a lie.
DeleteHere via Hilary. What a nice dish!
ReplyDeleteWhy, thank you Michael. Care for a candy cigarette? Michael? Are you there?
