Choices

Which jelly bean is your favorite? Maybe none.

Which watermelon is best? Hard to know, because picking a good melon is a fine art.

Which pepper will be in your salad?  Maybe one of each.

Which kitten will go home with you? Think hard, because it's like picking a friend, and she will be with you for a very long time.

  1. Not an easy decision, but one thing for sure, I will not be bringing the cure kitten home with me. I'm just not a pet person.

    1. Aha! We are different from one another in that regard.

  2. Excellent questions, all of them. I have a hard time with the idea of "best." The black jelly beans are my favorites, for instance, but are they the best? You tell me.

    What beautiful pictures.

    1. I used to avoid the black jelly beans, but not anymore. I kinda had to grow into them.

The idea of "best" is certainly subjective, even with watermelons.

  3. oh i love all jelly beans well except for licorice ... and i think there's a sweet smell to a ripe melon at least thats what my mom used to say .. as for picking a friend ... its would be tough to choose just one of those adorable kits ... and it is a life - at least 15 years - commitment .. pick wisely!

    1. There is a melon farmer here, who helps us pick out melons that are one day out, two days out, three days out to being ripe. He is always accurate! Not me. I do sniff them for that melon scent & it helps a little.

  4. That looks exactly like the litter of the cats I ended up with! Brothers and sisters, same colors like those. I ended up with the black and whites-- both of them. They were good kitties.

    1. Hi Nicole! We made the same choice. I kept the black and whites, both of them.

  5. Oh I love peppers. The colors and their nutritional value are a bigger for me. Great shots.

    1. Peggy, are some peppers more nutritious than others?

  6. The kitten problem is any easy one: I take them all.

    1. Last October you could have had them, all four foster kitties, before I lost my resolve and kept back two.

It was crazy around here when all 4 of them got to playing wildly, in-under-around-and on top of chairs, tables, sofas, rugs. They were insane little cuties.

    2. The black tuxedo kitten has recently learned to OPEN DOORS by jumping up onto the doorknob & clinging to it. This could be disastrous in a Chicago apartment!

  7. please do tell me the secret to choosing the best watermelon. I tend to go for the original big oblong watermelon with the big seeds. Those little round things with no seeds are not watermelons! bought my third of the summer and this week. the first two were great, this third one was good but not great. I love honey dews but cannot pick a good sweet ripe one for the life of me.

    1. I know! It's hard. Honey dews are the toughest of all.
The small-size ones are certainly convenient, but they often aren't as good. I think it's funny that they call the little seedless ones "personal watermelons."

    1. Luckily I am told that the foster mama & 2 kittens I didn't keep all found good homes quickly.:)

  9. Oh, I wish I could have them all! I hope they all found homes!

  10. I have not EVER had a seedless that was good, the texture is soft not crisp. Like that photo - seems balanced somehow. but the kittens - the one on the right - that is the cutest. My mother told me once that I used to bring home kittens when I was very small. I wonder what I was doing out on my own??? but I would bring them home and later after more kittens my dad would have to take them away. I only knew when older what that meant. Spritz and I start behavior classes on Friday.... Hope I learn fast.

    1. You know that I believe you made the right choice to bring Spritzer back from Brazil. He is a smart breed of dog and will thrive in obedience class. I'm so sure of that.

I kept the kitten on the right. :)

    1. I'm terrible at choosing honeydews. Last week I brought home a really good one, but I'd expected it to be a cantelope! It had the appearance of a muskmelon, with a textured rind. But it was a great honeydew. :)

  15. I love jelly beans but I can resist them. I love melon but I just finished some so I can pass on those. I do love peppers but they're in my salad quite regularly so - no thanks. Then we get to the kittens. I don't think I'd be able to choose. I'd have to just scoop them all up in one furry bundle and take them home. They are just TOO adorable. I'm glad they all have places where they'll be loved. Just so sweet.

    1. The trouble with little cutie-kittens is that they grow up to be great big cats!
But really, jelly beans and kittens all in one post? Did I overdo the sweetness factor?
