Today's science lesson is on the origin of clouds.
Clouds are generated by two entities.
First, there must be ladybugs.
Second, there must be Queen Anne's Lace.
Ladybugs carefully maintain the Queen Anne's Lace throughout its life cycle.
This is a lot of work for the ladybugs, who travel from top to bottom of every plant, fine-tuning the system.
Only a ladybug can determine the exact moment of cloud-readiness.
And when that moment comes, the Queen Anne's Lace begins to produce clouds.
The clouds are released into the sky.
And that is how clouds are made.
Thank you to Hilary, from The Smitten Image, who has bestowed an honor on this post.
i like it! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's what happens when an art teacher wants to teach science.
DeleteThis is awesome! I never knew!
ReplyDeleteMe neither! I only discovered this on a walk with the dogs this morning!
DeleteI love this!
ReplyDelete:-)
Deletequeen anne and her attendants!
ReplyDeleteYes! Ladybugs-in-waiting!
DeleteThank you Laoch. Normally I would ditch some of these, but they provided such great documentation that they had to stay.
ReplyDeleteExceedingly lovely. The lady on those perfectly plump blueberries was particularly regal.
ReplyDeleteHer red-orange to the berries' blue-violet: she was definitely mugging for the camera.
DeleteWhat fun. I thoroughly enjoyed this and it is so much easier to understand than those science book explanations. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you Rebecca; I'm thinking of writing a textbook. :o)
DeleteAbsolutely beautiful. And I like your hypothesis: makes perfect sense to me! :)
ReplyDelete-Stephanie
Stephanie: Thanks! It makes about as much sense as all of that stuff about water vapor & barometric pressure, right? :)
Deletea reasonable and perfectly illustrated argument as to why arts and sciences should remain entangled in the curriculum
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. There is so much beauty in science, so much thought in art and so much to wonder at in each.
DeleteWhat a sweet, fun and perfectly creative post.
ReplyDeleteThank you Hilary. :-)
Deletethanks ... i needed that lesson ... and those lady bugs sure work hard ... a woman's work is never done, lots of clouds to be released
ReplyDeleteIndeed, a woman's work is never done!
DeleteI knew that Ladybugs were somehow essential, now I know at least one reason why! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure they do lots of other stuff too. It needs further investigation.
DeleteEngaging & maddening too...because I know the truth, but....
ReplyDeleteThe truth? Don't say it! Don't.
Deletehad to come back and say congrats on your POTW!
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful post!!
Hugs....and congratulations on POTW!!
Thank you Jackie. You too: congrats.
DeleteLove it! And congrats on the POTW!
ReplyDeleteThanks Barbara. I think I first visited you b/c of a POTW on your blog!
DeleteOh, I love this!
ReplyDeleteYour photos of clouds are the best, Fiona!
