Handwriting and house-hunting

Photo#1 of a rather boring, overpriced little place, the "Montavilla" house last on the handwritten list below.
House-hunting is a fun sport, especially when you're not completely serious, but just a little serious. Our oldest son, wife, and little boy have just moved back to Oregon. At some point they hope to own a house in Portland and that's why I cruise Trulia and Zillow.

I keep notes on the original prices. It helps me know what houses actually sell for when later I see that they've gone for "x" amount of money. This is my handwriting, which hopefully will get analyzed by blogger-i-admire Suze's sister. Got that? Suze's sister does a great job at this, but only through the weekend. Then the deal is off. I wonder what she will say. I see that the handwriting:

1. Floats above the lines, and sometimes below them. (So... am I irresponsible?)
2. Does not observe margins very well. (I bet your handwriting doesn't either.)
3. Is legible but messy. (Neatness is a concept for which I strive.)
4. Is a bit disjointed. (hmmm.)

What will she think?

Update: Here is Suze's sister's very cool analysis of my handwriting:
Kerry is:
  •  a dreamer (True! So head-in-the-clouds I wonder if I have ADD)
  • fun, someone you'd want to be friends with (Really? I'm an introvert. I love hearing this. It's rare to hear this about me)
  • this was interesting, my sister believes she might have missed her calling in life but that it's never too late (There are so many paths my life could have taken, it's true. Still working on it.)
  •  protective (Yes.)
  • struggling with indecision or currently has something big that is 'hanging in mid-air' (Such as what to do with the rest of my life?)
  • needing to slow down (Little off here. I'm mightily laid-back. Any slower and I'd be comatose.)
  • financially prudent (Yeahh...HOW did she know this?)
  • longing for simplicity (Yes. True.)

The "street view"  of the house pictured above. It always pays to look at the street view. I mean, holy shit! What were they thinking? Who would buy this?

  1. It would be fun if they could live on a boat!

    1. House boats on the Columbia river are actually pretty cheap. Unfortunately they're a long way from the city center & possibly not ideal for a 2 year old. But I've always thought they looked like fun too. :-)

  2. I've been staring at this street view for a while trying to come up with a plausible explanation.

I have nothing that sounds sane.
So, for the insane people that lived here, they let this front yard get wildly out of hand, it was so overgrown, you couldn't see the house. When they decided to sell, they hired someone to cut it all back to what you see above. They didn't cut it all away because then they would have had to deal with removing the roots and re-sodding the lawn and they are, after all, insane.

  5. why would anyone do that? how weird. don't care for that house at all. they obviously enclosed the front porch which is why the front door is recessed like that. and no eaves. houses without eaves just look wrong to me.

    1. I was so taken by the crazy hedges everywhere I never noticed the lack of eaves. Makes it look plain.

  6. The garden looks like something set up to repel invaders

  7. Kerry, how lovely that your son and his family have moved back more closely to you.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful input on the situation with my daughter's sub, I really appreciated it.

Will be posting my sister's analysis of your notes in a bit!

  8. Beautiful & charming house with unique landscaping. You are(or were) a calligraphy teacher - then how come your handwriting is as you describe it :)

    1. Hilarious!!! I am super ashamed to admit that I can commit words-to-page in exquisite 17th century script, but my personal handwriting is hog-slop!!!!!

I commend you on your amazing memory.
