Reub's journey

Snow day

House-bound due to the weather for these past 3 days, there's been lots of time to think about weighty and important things. I could expound on some of that. But instead here are some pictures of my dog making snow angels:

You do see Reub's snow angel, right?

  3. LOVE the snow angel and Reuben of course. Would also love to hear about the weighty things that came to mind as it snowed. ??

    1. The weighty things mostly start with the letter "w." Wood. Weather. Wolves. Water. Wonder. All part of an ongoing, poorly-articulated discourse in my head.

  4. Absolutely.

What bliss for a dog to roll in the snow.

  5. He looks like he could stay that way forever. Ahhhh, snow.

    1. He rolled back and forth for ages. We waited and waited. I took a few pics, even a video. Finally we convinced him to move on.

    1. Me too! He has a sort of halo! This bad boy has come a long way, truly.

  8. These pictures just made me sooo happy! I don't know which was better, seeing your pup roll around in the snow, or the last one, with the imprint of his little doggy self!

    Just, perfection.

  9. With such a free spirit living in your house, winter must be tolerable.

    1. Tabor, it has been an interesting winter, to say the least, even without Reub's antics.

  10. How do they do it? Why do they do it? Slim will dive head first into the snow and she will push it with her nose like she is a shovel. I am plodding through it with layers of clothing and gloves and boots and she (a short-haired dog, at that) is rolling around like she wears some invisible barrier of protection. Reub doesn't seem to have much hair either. You think Slim and Reub would like being sled team dogs in Alaska?

    1. Granny, we have a ski-joring harness for Reub, kind of a sled dog set-up for when you want your dog to pull you while you're on skis. Can't use it now, though, b/c he has an injured leg.

It is really something how dogs can go out in any kind of weather, hot or cold, and not need a change of clothing, isn't it?

  11. I'm having a devil of a time seeing an angle in there.

    1. OK. To be honest it is a wing-less angel. More like a doggie outline which has to be called an angel because it's in the snow. Maybe it's more of an angle, not an angel. A snow angle.

  12. Oh I don't know. Dog snow angels seem pretty important to me (and perhaps even weighty in a few ways).

  15. I have some friends with tiny dogs, who hate the cold and have to wear booties even to go outside for a wee: their li'l paws get frozen otherwise, and/or they tip over sideways and lie there helplessly. It's nice having dogs who are big enough to enjoy snow. And such dogs really REALLY enjoy snow! Nothing makes my dog happier. She is re-puppyized, just like Reub.
