FMTSO: Fences

The idea of the Friday My Town Shoot-Out is to post photos of your local community every Friday. This week's assignment was chosen by Sandra from Vancouver Island, Canada.

Photos taken in Corvallis, Oregon.

It's January and this is Oregon, so there has been rain every day for a couple of weeks. The brightest colors on my way to work are the fences at the edge of a stalled construction project:

Bright, cheery fluorescent orange!

Somebody was trying to teach us about the rule of thirds awhile back; I'm working on it.

The post office has a kind of cool fence-thing on its ramp. OK, not a fence-thing, a railing.

Some people really tend to their fences. (Ahem, please note the use of complementary colors here, what a careful gardener.)

Other people neglect their fences. This is the nasty invasive Himalayan blackberry making a pest of itself on an old fence. But pretty. And good to eat.

Again not really a fence but a railing, surrounding the observation deck at Finley Wildlife Refuge. I just like the imprinted leaf patterns on the top rail.

Right now the outdoor cafes are all packed up and fenced off downtown.

I was trying to take a picture of the horse, but got the fence instead.

The hinge on our gate looks like a little bandit.

Oops, here goes one that I could have saved for next week: a western bluebird perched, by golly, on a fence.

  1. Great compositions and great color. The construction fences in the beginning remind me of one of those Christo art constructions.

  2. Kerry, I think you did a wonderful job. I love your gate. It has character. I also really like the yellow fence with the lavendar flowers. It is very pretty and yes, I did notice the color coordination.

  6. I am almost all the way through myLinky and you are the first with a construction fence. I love the red/white of the safty barrier. and the fence where you wanted the horse and got the fence is probably (in my opinion of course) the best.

  12. A wonderful variety of fences. But the bird and the fence just go together so well, that's my first choice.
