I know I am not supposed to assign human values to animals, but sometimes it is really hard not to do so. After all, why should we hold some sort of patent on empathy and kindness?
Jane Goodall was also discouraged from applying human traits to animals, but I think research over the years shows we are not that far away in our traits. Humans are very animal like and animals are very human in some things.
