Reub's journey

Chicago

John and I just got back from a trip to Chicago, where we spent a few days taking in the big city.

Coming from Oregon, where we live in a pastoral setting with views of mountains to both the east and west, this was quite a change.

 Skyscrapers

 City lights

 And lots of geometry,

which pretty much makes it a photographer's paradise.

My little pocket camera got a good workout.

Just about everywhere I looked a picture seemed to jump out!

Cities are such exciting places, with images in front of you constantly.

Distracting windows

and shining staircases were such fun that I wish we could have stayed longer.

On the other hand, this evening back here at home in the tranquil town where I live, there was a beautiful rainbow.

And a hawk, spotted from the car.  Consolation prizes, which I wouldn't trade for all of the city's bright lights and amazing attractions.
 I am where I belong!

  2. Chicago is a great city - to visit. Lots of art and architecture and GREAT food. But I wouldn't want to live there. Or New York. Or...

  3. Chicago definitely is geometric. Your pictures are beautiful.

But there is no place like home!

  5. Your writing and photography are such a joy to observe. You make it seem as though words and pictures have always been as one.

    Please never stop
