A new tiny person

A new tiny person was born today in a Chicago hospital, almost two weeks early, to my son Ben and his wife Chrystal. We gratefully welcome baby boy Rowan, who has made us grandparents, and whom we can't wait to meet.

Ben said:
The hospital is full of pregnant ladies and babies- the nurses are calling them "Blizzard Babies". Apparently it was nine months ago when the  blizzard of the decade, complete with thunder snow, blanketed Chicago.
And the first snow of the season fell today.

  10. Thank you all. Slim, your comment is so lovely, and I have been thinking about it. We do all have a story from the very start, don't we?

ER: You're right. The rowan tree has a deep and magical history. I really like this name.

  13. Lorenzo: Thank you so much.

Reya: Mazel tov! Todah! Thank you!

Snowbrush: We hope that some day they might move closer, but who knows where their path will take them? Luckily they have very good friends in Chicago, and a few family members in Wisconsin, not too far away.
