Spring flowers are out here in western Oregon, and so many of them are yellow and flashy.
I loved the fragrant daffodils in front of school as I arrived at work every day last week; they put on a dazzling performance in front of the low-growing purple heather.
But it rained almost every day, spattering the blossoms, and casting doubt on our plan of going up into the Cascades this week for spring break. Would the rain ruin the snow at higher elevations?
No! Instead it had come down in blankets of soft snow, perfect for cross-country skiing out the back door of our rented cabin at Odell Lake.
It won't be long before the snow is gone and anglers will come here to fish for trout and Kokanee salmon, but this week it was all ours.
Well, ours plus a few families with kids. Reub visited one of several snowmen, and I tried in vain to stop him before he marked it with telltale yellow snow, darned dog, and then he stole the carrot.
On a related topic, and completely inappropriate for polite company, I can't help but include this "color chart." It was posted in the stalls of the ladies restroom at the ranger station on the way home today. The Forest Service is so helpful!
Anyway, we arrived back in Corvallis, back to springtime, leaving winter, the snowmen, and the ranger station far behind.
All pictures shot in or near Corvallis, Oregon.
Oh, the daffodils are so beautiful and how nice that you go your wish for good snow during spring break. Funny....the yellow spot left by spot, and I'm sure he thought the snowguy was finished with the carrot. I've never seen that chart in a public restroom...that's a hoot....but helpful...I guess.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog, sorry bout the yellow snow LOL. My sister lives in Brookfield Wi. She is such a funny bunny always cautioning me about yellow snow. Don't eat the yellow snow, I live in Georgia. He he he he
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful. Love all the yellow flowers and snow. LOL Great job.

Thank you so much for including the unique and wonderful yellow snow picture! I get a great laugh from it. And the chart! I'm glad that it appears that Reub is adequately hydrated.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots and entertainment all in one go!! Love the snow shots with the yellow signs (especially the upside down one). And, of course, the poor snowman!
ReplyDeleteI love that first snow shot, so beautiful!the flowers are awesome too.
ReplyDeleteVery clever use of the yellow pictures to tell a story! :)
ReplyDeleteAn interesting range of yellows! Especialy love the spattered daffodils! The artistic effect is incredible!
ReplyDeleteHi Remington here! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Nice to meet you! I like your blog it is really cool! I was going to follow you -- no, not around your living room but just in Blogland but couldn't find the place so sign up....I hope we can still be great friends!
ReplyDeleteROFLMAO Kerry..that was wonderful..giggle snort! Loved your post! I loved the flower shots..even the dirty ones! I have always wanted to cross country..am thinking maybe next year I will try!! Happy Weekend hon, Sarah
ReplyDeleteWonderful shootout, Kerry! Stole the carrot >snerk< my dog loved to eat carrots too.
ReplyDeleteThat completely unexpected color chart could be quite useful to someone. Most people have no idea dark urine means anything particular about their health. We can be too polite.
The yellow color and the white snow is very compatible to each other. Love your shots!

Oh Kerry you had me laughing with that snowman story. The yellow spot didn't ruin its cuteness and I'm sure Reub enjoyed that carrot and relieving himself. Haha. My favorite shot is of the snow covered gas pump and the upside down sign. Great post.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a dehydrated chart either. funny! love the shot of the snowman with the yellow spot. lol fun shoot out!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the chart. How funny. Funny sad that people can't tell when they're thirsty. What is up with that??
ReplyDeleteYellow is the earliest spring color in DC. We're into the pinks and whites now.
Enjoy the snow!!
Here, we still have snow. I have to leave it to find warmth, sunshine and daffodils. Alas, I am too busy with extraneous stuff, so I will have to wait until those beautiful daffodils find me! Maybe three more weeks. Everyone else will be into summer by then and tired of daffodils. Yours are gorgeous. And i bet that little snowman was happy for the arrival of a little warm pee. Since Reub ate his nose, the little guy couldn't smell the pee anyway. it just felt warm.=D Thanks for sharing this Kerry.
ReplyDeleteI like the yellow mark your dog left behind great find. And it was funny made me laugh. The daffodils were very pretty.
ReplyDeleteWow, the snow looks great but I don't miss it. We have already seen 80+ degrees here although it has cooled down today.
ReplyDeleteLove the Angler sign, it would go great with my collection.
The urine chart is quite unusual, but sure fits the theme! :P
